BUGO NHS EMBRACES THE BASIC EDUCATION LEARNING CONTINUITY PLAN (BE-LCP) AND THE LEARNING DELIVERY MODALITIES (LDM) 2 COURSE FOR INSTRUCTIONAL COACHES AND TEACHERS

The Department of Education through theNational Educators Academy of the  Philippines (NEAP) is currently implementing its Learning Delivery Modality Capacity Building Program under the Basic Education Continuity Plan.

The aims are the following:

A)   Improve the readiness of teachers and school leaders for the imple4mentation and management of Learning Delivery modalities consistent with policies and COVID-19 response framework k adopted by the government; and

 

B)   Provide guidance to the schools in making informed decisions related to the implementation of the different learning delivery modalities appropriate to the school context.

 

     The main delivery of these LDM courses will be guided independent study through self-learning modules to be available in electronic (offline/ online) and printed versions.

 

    This will be complemented with the peer learning through the Learning Action Cells (LAC) and coaching to deepen the participants’ learning.

 

    On the other hand, the Course Orientation Module 1 can be done through asynchronous approach using online platform for video conferencing. This is to set the tone for the training and to ensure all participants have a common perspective of the program.

 

    Course 1 (Learning Delivery Modalities) has two mainstreams: Learning Delivery Modality Implementation and Management Stream or (LDM 1 Course) and Learning Delivery Modalities and their Pedagogies Stream or (LDM 2 Course).  The grade-level leaders were tasked for the clarity of roles and procedures.

Teachers are always striving to show more when introducing students to new information, concepts, and skills. In this New Normal, many of the BNHS teachers strategize ways to amplify the curriculum.

The initiative of Teacher Ellson Juntilla and the rest of the Mathematics Department give impact to the teaching and learning of the learners.

Audio clips  primary channel for learning is hearing. The better learner can hear, the more they can learn. The goal of audio lessons is to enable every child to clearly hear all the speech components of the teacher’s voice no matter where a child is.

PLANTITOS AND PLANTITAS are trending now. The Bugo NHS teachers also revive their passion for plants. Indeed, they  are plant hobbyist since before pandemic strikes.

Why teachers plant more?

Planting is a great way to relieve stress. Whether you have a small patio to decorate or a vast amount of space to tend, the act of planting can be a stress reliever in itself, and the garden they created bring even more peace. 

 

How taking care of plants helps one's mental health?

Psychologist Renz Argao said that "taking care of plants is a way of engaging in positive activities that help people cope with the pandemic." Moreover, he said:

"Its benefit is similar to other positive or adaptive coping. You can get the same effects from practicing other forms of mindfulness, breathing exercises, or engaging in other activities that you enjoy or like, such as baking or cooking or engaging in sports."

Getting In Touch With Nature

The vast works that the teachers face every day and the amount of time spend indoors give them boredom and monotony. 

Thus, many teachers feel a desire to connect with nature and bond with family.

BEHIND THE CURTAIN OF MODULE GIVING

The school serves as the pick-up point for all the learning modules, which the parents and guardians will get and bring home for their children to study and return with outputs within two weeks.

“Not smooth”

Bugo NHS teachers said that the preparations for the school opening under a pandemic has never been smooth.

      Teachers stayed longer time in the school just to make sure that modules will be ready for distributions.

        The making of Learning Activity Sheets (LAS) and using new technology platforms also simulate many challenges. Some online platforms like Google Classroom and Zoom were out of teacher’s control.

Teachers could not decipher which are the most effective and appropriate for their instruction style, class content, and student abilities. Indeed it’s a steeper learning curve than many parents, students, and teachers themselves realize. 

Dilemma

The ranging rate of the infected community undeniably causes fear also to teachers in modular learning. The transmission of the virus may spread during the module distribution and retrieval. 

The wearing of personal protective gears is not enough for safety. It causes thermal strain while in distribution activities.

Teacher’s Role Appreciation

The pandemic has open many parents’ eyes and increases their appreciation for teachers’ work as part of the basic fabric of the safety net for their children. 

Parents, guardians, and even learners also spend more time refreshing old lessons learned. They sometimes call out help for teacher’s assistance in the wee hours.

“VALUES MATTERS”

           Being a Teacher is a noble call.

     In contrary to the teachers experiences, Bugo NHS teachers remain steadfast in their sworn duty to the public. As stated in Art 8, Sec. 2 of CODE OF ETHICS FOR PROFESSIONAL TEACHERS
 

"Teacher shall recognize that the interest and welfare of the learners are the first and foremost concern and shall deal justifiably and impartially with each of them."

LOVE WILL FIND WAYS TO REDUCE STRESS

         The recent poll shows that 46% of teachers report on high daily stress, which ties them to medical practitioners as the most stressful occupation.

         The pandemic never predicted that the teachers would be working from home for weeks to months. The very sudden shift to distance learning has placed an unprecedented type of stress for teachers to quickly adapt their curricula to air and online format that is accessible for all students. 

Cut the stress. Insert something new.

       The coronavirus pandemic has caused many to cancel their anniversaries; but not to this couple. 

     The world is increasingly being told to stay inside and maintain social distancing, but this couple have gotten creative.

        They cherish the moment rather than letting the pandemic spoil their celebration.

       Anniversaries are ultimately about accomplishing three main psychological and interpersonal goals.

One is "to remember the past, particularly the love stories and successes that led up to the present moment."

Another is "to share in the present, especially being grateful for the unique and special things that each [person] brings into the relationship."

And lastly,  "to recommit  the relationship and shared goals for the future."

Love always matters!

BNHS Principal, Stepping-Up Prevention and Control Measures Against the Spread Covid-19

     The Bugo National High School in the leadership of Roel R. Lamberte, school principal, is stepping- up its prevention and control measures against the spread of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) to protect the health of the faculty and staff.

       He said during the Monday convocation, “People must be informed on the virus’ ways of transmission, signs and symptoms, and precautionary measures such as regular hand washing, maintaining healthy lifestyles, ensuring food safety and consulting a physician when having symptoms attributable to respiratory infection.”

           Furthermore, he mentioned also the DM429s2020- Reiteration on the Application of Leave of Absence Protocol due to Quarantine and or Treatment relative to COVID-19”.

          In response to his directives, the BUGO NHS community together with the visiting parents and guardians of the learners followed the social distancing as they queue in the classrooms and other offices. They also followed the norms imposed by the school.

       The principal mandatory inform everyone to use a facemask and face shield.  Moreover, handwashing and other safety protocols were also strengthened.

Some strategies imposed by the principal to displaced parents from mass gathering (tapuk-tapuk) and to sustain ‘social distancing’.

• The students' name were posted on the wall of their respective classrooms based on their grade levels.

•       To give ease to the direct clientele, parents’ received SMS and call from the School Registrar and the class adviser of their child to direct them.

•        Signages were mounted to guide parents and the names of the students per section were mounted on the gallery wall.

•  Regardless of rank, the principal also helps in ushering the parents. 

  

    

       On the other hand, the Bugo NHS Disaster Risk Reduction Management team were task to lead the City Disinfection Team in spraying disinfectant in every facet of the classrooms and offices of the school.

            

       Mr. Edwin "Bong" O. Mamba ushered the staff of the City Disinfection Team to every room of the school.

TRIBUTE TO TEACHERS: “Gurong Filipino para sa Batang Filipino”

DepEd continuously recognizes the significant role of teachers in educating the Filipino learners through the National Teachers’ Month that started from Sept. 5 and ended on Oct. 5. The latter date served as the National Teachers’ Day (NTD) and World Teachers’ Day (WTD). Today’s Teachers’ Day celebration has a theme: “Gurong Filipino para sa Batang Filipino”. 

The Bugo NHS teachers celebrated the event in contrary to the usual teacher’s day celebration with great verve and enthusiasm.

The school principal, Roel R. Lamberte commissioned the faculty President Mr. Ellson Juntilla and the Cooperative President Mr. Art Maninggo came up with a simple yet harmonious celebration. 

Mrs. Nerssa V. Dazo, a Senior High School Master Teacher led the  faculty and staff to recite the Teacher's Prayer.

The Supreme Student Government (SSG) spearheaded by Mrs. Ennie Pacaldo rendered a video presentation as tribute to Bugo NHS teachers.

The foods were packed individually  and delivered according to clusters. Indeed the celebration is simple yet meaningful. It  can erase the turbidity of work's pressures.
